roxour is proud to present fresh music from r-04, a very talented mid 20 boy from downtown tokyo. for r 04 things started about 10 years ago when testing out his first syntheziser. from japanese fascination of composing and living game music soon he was fascinated by the magic of detroit techno. aside from that, he plays on the grand piano with that jazzy - and funkyness of an early stevie wonder. r-04s music is reflecting the city where he comes from. he says many tall inorganic buildings and night scene always inspire me. his first official release gazing at the moon is somewhere between jazz and techno. its a kind of tribute to the so called chu shu no meigetsu convention, the autumn time in japan, when no one can ignore the beauty of the big shiny full moon. also i composed this track meaning that we had better keep emotional leeway to enjoy the full moon no matter how busy we are. patrick alavis ace remix is turning the jazz and detroit techno rooted original into a deep roller.

ironic? no, it’s dead serious: sally shapiro keeps on dreaming of barbie and ken. sometimes good things come to those who wait, as is the case with sally shapiro. one shouldn’t really imagine the bashful swede from göteborg, who never performs live, setting a new trend for turning down lucrative offers. and the thought that she is working on something hip, is most likely even a little eerie for her. after all, she s just into something, which she’s been doing since her childhood in the 1980s — singing songs in the style of her idol sandra (”maria magdalena“). if she hadn’t met her companion johan agebjörn, who despite his musical socialization with techno in the 1990s has been deep into italo disco for the past few years and is a collector of zyx records, sally’s passion for synthi songs and fairy-like female vocals would have remained private. however, johan was screwing together some italo-style songs when he asked sally (whose voice he’d only heard from a previous christmas party karaoke) if she would improvise on his soft keyboard tunes, their collaboration was a done deal.
subsequent to their first releases on the labels diskokaine and permanent vacation, sally shapiro suddenly found herself in the midst of the ultra-hip neo/italo-disco movement, which is especially big in scandinavia. why of all things on the northern peninsula, where one traditionally listens to black metal and indie rock played with legs spread apart, the peculiar, yet sunny disco music became such an export hit, stays one of the mysteries of the pop business. it’s a fact, though, that next to internationally celebrated norwegian neodisco-heroes lindström, prins thomas and todd terje, the lovely sally has become the scandinavian disco-act in the mean time.

this ep opens with a funky but chill pinched, a mid-tempo track that starts out with a shuffled beat and deep bassline before breaking down and coming back with a haunting synth that is almost reminiscent of heartthrob. the second track on the a-side, sublingual, starts out almost as stripped down before turning into a smooth dancefloor track very much in the vein of the current output of dial records.

enough of this featuring crap, the starring title seems much more appropriate for club siren luciana. as featured vocalist for bodyrox, the hits yeah yeah and planet topped club charts and led to her cheekily titled debut cd featuring luciana. further tracks with mark knight, super mal and martijn ten velden, have cemented lucianas spot as an electro vixen who can deliver hot vocals with a great track. turning her attention stateside, she has teamed up with richard vission & static revenger for i like that. remixes come from new boys meterhead who hail from la and are doing big things in blogland. the track seemlessly blends electro, glitch, rock and hiphop elements with an 80s feel that is both nostalgic and futuristic. limited edition promo get em while you can!!

deetron pops in with two great remixes, turning the original into a stomping, screaming rework that gets just as epic. the believer mix is a 8 minutes epic featuring deetrons typical fusion of classic detroit techno with some crisp acid touches and corrina stunning vocals. the spring leaves mix shows a more soulful side with a deeper vibe, rhodes and rollin beats ! pitto, after his big feeling record, is back with a little help from joris voorn for a hot remix, using a killer bassline over a simple groove and tweaking the vocals for an effective game!

tuccillo joins delusions of grandeur for their forth release turning in two tracks of funk injected house that will work wonders on the dancefloor. hot from his releases with willie graff on freerange, circus company, drumpoet and liebe*detail, the ibizan producer delivers once again with a release that will put him firmly on the hype list for 2009. panorama is one of those tracks that will be played by djs right across the board and creates a killer vibe whether its at its original tempo of 118 or pitched right up for peak time action. the rolling beats, looped up guitar hit and siren synths create a mighty track that treads a familiar path but does so in such style that we challenge you not to get bitten by the bug. taken things in an altogether deeper, darker and more twisted direction with have switzerlands finest kalabrese taking care of the remix. his very capable hands and ears, not to mention vocal skills, have resulted in a warped, acidified excursion full of bottom end pressure and brilliant percussion. a real trip this one. finally, on the flip, we have tuccillos this time, taking things back into house territory with a funk filled workout that utilizes a pitched down vocal and horn stabs to great effect. that doesnt sound great on paper we know, but give it a listen cos it works a treat.
